Frog Bog

By Mount Nelson Primary School

This is an ephemeral frog bog, you may see it with lots of water or you may see it with none. There are two types of frogs found here. The Brown Tree Frog grows up to 45mm and its eggs hatch less than a week after laying. The Common Froglet is a little smaller at up to 30mm in length and it takes just over a week for its eggs to hatch after laying. Listen to our interview with Dr Andrew Hingston to find out more about the chytrid disease and why some frogs are more susceptible than others.
