How do you know that dogs are allowed here? Notice the green bin has a place to get black plastic bags .This is to encourage owners to clean up after their dogs.  If you look at the sign you’ll see dogs are even allowed off the lead here. Do you know why? Well this area is surrounded either by houses or road. This means native animals are less likely to live here. In our interview with Adam did you hear him mention that recently dogs killed penguins at a beach near Kingston. Well it happened on 25th July 2012 and at least 11 penguins were killed after two dogs escaped from their yard. 

We have made some posters to explain why dogs are allowed off lead in some areas, only on a lead in some areas and not at all in other areas.
